18 years and today........
WHO AM I?
My name is Joseph Green. Inmate 607305. I'm 39 years old and will be 40 in December. I've been incarcerated for 18 years and counting. I was raised around family drug abuse, emotional and mental trauma and a unstable upbringing to say the least. Despite all of that my mother gave me all the love she could muster up. For that support I say Thank you Mama.
From a early age, I was given the responsibility of the household. Helping my siblings, cooking and even getting a job to help with bills. My mother placed this upon me as she struggled with her drug addiction and mental health.
I've personally struggled with PTSD, anxiety and depression. My life experiences included violence of all kinds, living in a drug house and shelter, drug abuse and death of friends and family. This may sound familiar to some and foreign to others. Nevertheless let me say that it hasn't all been bad. I've had some great moments in my life. I will share those stories in future post. However I share my past with you not for sympathy nor to make any excuses for where I sit today. I share my past to show you that despite all of that I intend on overcoming it all and being phenomenal.
At 19 I enrolled in Job Corps and obtained my GED and a nursing trade within 9 months. My exposure in job Corp opened my eyes to a new way of living. When I came home from Job Corp I begin to work several jobs and enrolled in college. At the same time I was introduced and exposed to the BMF lifestyle and experience. Which was next level, what you see on TV and movies don't give that experience true justice. Although I worked and went to college in the day time. It was clubs and drugs at night.
Today I am a motivational speaker, peer mentor, writer, poet and dog trainer. I intend on continuing these things upon my release. As well as adding entrepreneur to that list. I wanted to share my life with you so that you could understand my journey.
Well I will continue to share many aspects of my life daily. Make sure you check me out and share me with others. Please comment and ask questions I will get back with you. 18 years and counting.........
